If you are looking for a report to help you verify the employees' earnings and tax withholdings in a particular quarter of the current tax year, you need the Report of Wages. This report is most useful when you prepare quarterly payroll tax returns and when you print the report of wages for California on DE6 Forms. For audit purposes, it is strongly recommended for you to print this report prior to performing W-2/1099 Year-End closing for the current tax year.
You can choose to print this report for a particular state. For the state of California, you can choose to print a generic report, on a DE6 preprinted form, on a DE6 internet form, or on a DE6 blank paper. You need to specify the number of employees to be shown on each page. Options are also available for you to choose which information you want to show in the report-gross earnings, federal gross, FICA gross, Medicare gross, FUTA gross, reported tips, State gross, SDI gross, SUTA gross, and/or additional states gross-and the relative tax withheld. You may further specify the minimum gross amounts for the employee's earnings information to be included in the report.
